During this COVID-19 social restriction, students are forced to do online learning activities at home. This has attracted researcher’s attention because this situation is a fairly new thing in the research environment. Two aspects studied are students’ experience and students’ motivation in participating in online English teaching and learning activities. The total participants of this study were seven participants consisting of six EFL grade 10 students and one teacher. The research data was taken using questionnaires and interviews. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis and then the data was presented in a narrative form. This study revealed that students' online learning experience was not much different from offline. The activities remained the same, the only difference was the media used. This study also revealed that students' motivation to learn English was good and was dominated by extrinsic motivation. Teacher had a big role in increasing students’ motivation. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers can create a comfortable atmosphere for students and always innovate teaching methods so that students' motivation does not decrease when participating online English learning.
