ABSTRACT

This research aims to study the language acquisition of three-year-old native children in the selected videos of YouTube. The research objectives are to identify the types of sentences and the factors influencing language acquisition of three-year-old Mateo and Revelynne. This research is descriptive qualitative research which is underpinned by four significant stages of analysis ranging from domain, taxonomy, componential, and cultural theme analysis blended with language acquisition approach. The result show that, a male acquired all the types of sentences, while a female only acquired declarative, imperative, and exclamatory. Meanwhile, social interaction influences Mateo's and Revelynne's language acquisition. The language parents use, especially their mother, will be used by children in the future. Interactions within the family at home will be significant in offering children verbal contact and opportunities to use language meaningfully. Therefore, gender can influence one's language development because the brain development of male and female children differs.
