The objectives of this research are to find the types of positive politeness strategies in the movie, to analyze how the stages can influence the characters in choosing the types of positive politeness strategies in the movie, and to describe how the factors influence the use of positive politeness strategies in the stages of the movie. This research applied qualitative descriptive. The data in this research is in the form of a movie entitled Space Jam: A New Legacy. Then the data source is used in the form of a document in the movie transcript. To collect data, the first thing to do is watch a movie. The second is looking for transcripts to make it easier to find data. The third highlights character conversations that contain positive politeness strategies. The last is analyzing the data based on the social context at each stage of the movie. Based on the analysis, strategy four, namely the use in-group identify markers has the most occurrences in the movie. The complication stage receives more positive politeness strategies when compared to the other stages. The payoff and circumstance are a factor that influences the use of positive politeness strategies. Payoff occurs when the speaker benefits, such as by minimizing FTA (Face Threatening Acts). Besides that, circumstance consists of relative power (P) and power distance (D), because the characters already know each other and have a close relationship with each other.
