This study delves into the utterances produced Vivian Carter and Mitchell Willson in the movie Moxie (2021), with a specific focus on  instances where these characters employ impoliteness strategies. The collected data is then meticulously analyzed to fulfill the research objectives, encompassing the identification of impoliteness strategy types used by both characters, an exploration of their application across various stages within the movie, and a comprehensive depiction of how the implementation of impoliteness strategy in each stage influences the characterization of the main protagonists and antagonists. Employing a qualitative descriptive research approach rooted in socio-pragmatics, this research utilizes an inductive analysis method comprising domain analysis, taxonomy analysis, componential analysis, and cultural theme analysis. A detailed examination of 58 instances of impoliteness strategy leads to three distinct findings. Firstly, the analysis reveals the presence of all types of impoliteness strategy within the character dialogues. Secondly, it demonstrates that while impoliteness strategy is most prevalent during the complication stage, it remains absent during the evaluation stage. Lastly, the study uncovers a noticeable impact on the characterization of both Vivian and Mitchell due to their utilization of impoliteness strategies.
