This research is conducted to categorize the types of swear words found in “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” movie, to identify the translation techniques used by the translator to translate swear words, to identify the impact of the translation techniques on the presence or absence of a shift of swear words, and the impact of the translation techniques on the translation accuracy and acceptability.

The data of this research were analyzed descriptively and the results are also served in the form of words. Therefore, this research is categorized as descriptive qualitative research. The sources of data used for this research consist of the documents and informants. The documents consist of swear words and the translation of swear words taken from the movie entitled “The Hitman’s Bodyguard”. Meanwhile, the informants of this research are the raters who helped validate and assess the data by identifying translation techniques used to translate swear words and analyzing the accuracy and acceptability of the translation. To collect the data, this research applied content analysis and Focus Group Discussion.

The result shows that there are six types of swear words from a total of 117 data. The types are sex term, excretion term, bodily functions term, mother-in-law term, religious matters term, and death term. Meanwhile, there are 5 techniques used to translate swear words. The techniques are adaptation technique, deletion technique, generalization technique, established equivalent, and literal translation technique. This research also proves that the techniques gives an impact on the presence of shift of swear words, where the majority of swear words are experienced shift. Moreover, in terms of accuracy, the translation got a score of 2.17 out of 3 which is considered medium. Meanwhile, a score of 2.62 out of 3 is given for acceptability which is considered high.
