This research is conducted with purposes of (1) analyzing the function of swearing words, (2) analyzing the translation technique used to translate the swearing word, (3) analyzing the impact of the translation technique used on the presence or absence of a shift in the function, (4) analyzing the impact of translation techniques employed on the translation quality in term of accuracy and acceptability. This research employs a descriptive qualitative research method with a purposive sampling technique. There are two sources of data in this research, first is words and expressions that are taken from all swearing words found in the dialogues from the movie "Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard," and the second is the translation quality assessment that is taken from the rates.

The result of this research reveals that regarding the functions of swearing words, there are three functions of swearing words found in the "Hitman's Wife Bodyguard" movie. These functions include Expressing emotion with 73 data, Humor and verbal Emphasize with 48 data, and social bonding and solidarity with 6 data. In terms of translation techniques, this research found nine translation techniques employed by the translator. The censorship translation technique is employed in 43 data, followed by Swearing to Non-Swearing translation technique with 36 data, and swearing for swearing translation technique with 21 data. Additional techniques include pure borrowing with 18 data, literal translation with 5 data, established equivalent with 1 data, applying euphemism with 1 data, pure borrowing + addition with 1 data, and literal + pure borrowing with 1 data. The investigation reveals the impact of the use of translation techniques on the presence or absence of a shift in the swearing word function. Out of 127 Data, 80 encountering a function shift, transforming into neutral word in the target language. However, 47 data maintain their original function. Furthermore, this research reveals the impact of the translation techniques on the translation quality. In terms of accuracy, 40 data are deemed accurate, 36 less accurate, and 51 inaccurate. Thus, the overall classification is "less accurate translation." This result is causes by the use of censorship translation technique, making the swearing words being omitted in the target text, resulting in the loss of intended emotion and message. Regarding the acceptability, 57 data are considered acceptable, while ten are labelled as less acceptable, and 60 data are deemed unacceptable. Hence, the overall classification is "less acceptable translation”. This outcome is driven by the frequent use of censorship translation technique, causing the translation to lose the emotional expression and appear unnatural.
