This study is conducted to analyze The Types and Distribution of Directive Speech Acts in The Stages of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe Movie by employing the theory of directive speech acts classified by Searle (1979) and movie staging with its phases proposed by Martin & Rose (2007). The detailed objectives of this study are: (1) to find out the types of directive speech acts in the movie, (2) to identify the difference in the use of directive speech acts expressed by the protagonist and antagonist characters to express their desires, (3) to explore the distribution of the directive speech act found in each stages namely orientation, complication, evaluation, and resolution. This research use a qualitative descriptive method. The location of this study is an adventure-fantasy movie entitled The Chronicles of Narnia: the Witch,the Lion, and the Wardrobe released in 2005. The data of this research were taken from a movie script which contains the dialogue between protagonist and antagonist characters. According to the research findings, 89 data were found in this movie. The directive type of commanding and asking occurs more often with highest numbers of the data in complication stage along with the increasing problems.
