An intercultural competence (IC) is something described as an individual understanding ofother cultures in order to be able to build appropriate and effective communication. However,not all L2 learners can afford to live in the target country. English movies and TV series areauthentic tools which show how English speakers communicate and interact with each other.Therefore, this study explores: 1) the development of a pre-service EFL teacher as L2 learnerduring the activity of watching English movies and TV series. It focuses on the researcher’sperception of her intercultural competence through watching English Films & TV series; 2)how watching English films and TV series facilitate her intercultural competence. Toinvestigate these issues, the researcher used qualitative data from diaries, the researcher’sown experience during the process, and the habit of watching English movies and TV series,and further examined, analyzed, and described. The result showed that: 1) watching moviesand TV series could facilitate the development of intercultural competence for the researchera) prior knowledge b) personality c) expectation; 2) films present with various visual stimuliand concepts that result in the development of multiple perspectives on cross-culturalchallenges a) interpret b) senses c) understanding. Furthermore, since IC leads to successfullanguage learning and it offers a unique and engaging approach to language learning thatgoes beyond traditional textbook materials, the researcher suggests that teachers implementit more in the teaching and learning activity.
