×<p>Mentik Wangi is one of the Indonesian local rice varieties native to Magelang, Central Java. This variety has superior properties, such as a fluffy texture and fragrant aroma. However, there are some weaknesses in Mentik Wangi, such as tall posture of its stem and its long harvest age that can be up to 4 months. These weaknesses of Mentik Wangi can be fixed through plant breeding by gamma-ray irradiation. This research is aimed to study the performance of M5 Mentik Wangi resulting from 200 gray gamma-ray irradiation and to obtain mutant plants with short stems, short lifespans, and high productivity. This research was conducted in June - October 2022 in Karanglo Village, Polanharjo District, Klaten Regency, Central Java. This research was carried out by planting 20 genotypes of Mentik Wangi, consisting of 19 mutant genotypes resulting from 200 gray gamma-ray irradiation and variety of Mentik Wangi as control plant. The data from this research were analyzed descriptively and continued with T-Test with α = 0,05. Based on the selection in this research, there are 26 M6 plants which have plant height ≤ 112,3 cm, seeds weight per clump ≥ 53,27 g, and harvest age ≤ 101 (DAP) that consist of: M6-200-G107-17-60-3 (9)(22), M6-200-G147-2-55-1 (2)(19)(3), M6-200-G147-2-55-8 (12)(29)(3), M6-200-G147-2-48-19 (6), M6-200-G59-3-30-3 (11), M6-200-G59-18-1-2 (10)(6)(7), M6-200-G59-18-1-13 (24), M6-200-G107-17-60-23 (30)(4)(10), M6-200-G59-18-43-7 (3), M6-200-G147-10-76-14 (16)(18), M6-200-G59-18-43-16 (4), M6-200-G29-11-98-15 (12)(29), M6-200-G59-3-30-7 (4)(3), and M6-200-G59-3-30-12 (6).</p>
