× <p>Background: Bad eating patterns can affect blood sugar and total cholesterol levels. Nowadays adolescents like to consume sugar-sweetened beverages by following popular trends. As much as 95% of adolescents in Surabaya like the sugar-sweetened beverages. Consuming carbohydrates or sugar and fat in excess is associated with increased blood sugar and total cholesterol levels. There is a need for innovation in local food processing based on chocolate drinks as an alternative substitute drink for efforts to control blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels in adolescents to stay within normal limits.  <br>Objective: To analyze the effect of giving choco drink and choco drink with the addition of sorghum flour on blood sugar and cholesterol levels in adolescents.<br>Methods: This study was quasi-experimental with a pre-post control group design. The subjects of this study were adolescents in Surabaya city aged 17-18 years as many as 45 students who were divided into 3 groups, Control (K), Choco drink treatment (P1), and Choco drink treatment with the addition of sorghum flour (P2). A 200 ml choco drink intervention was given daily for 14 days. Data were analyzed statistically with the Paired T-test test to determine the effect of giving before and after the intervention. Differences between groups can be known through statistical analysis of One-Way ANOVA for normally distributed data and Kruskal Wallis for non-normally distributed data.<br>Results: Giving choco drink to the P1 group showed a decrease in blood sugar levels, that is -5 ± -1.672 (ρ = 0.002) and did not affect cholesterol levels. Giving choco drink with the addition of sorghum flour in group P2 showed a decrease in blood sugar levels, that is -5 ± -1.899 (ρ = 0.027) and total cholesterol levels, that is -4 ± 0.94 (ρ = 0.021). There were differences in blood sugar levels between groups (ρ=0.049), that is in groups P1-K and P2-K (ρ≤0.05), between P1-P2 (ρ=0.713).<br>Conclusion: Giving choco drink with the addition of sorghum flour for 14 days can reduce blood sugar levels and total cholesterol levels of adolescents. While giving choco drink for 14 days can reduce blood sugar levels, but does not affect total cholesterol levels of adolescents.</p>
