Thesis, Surakarta: Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, February 2024.<br>This study is aimed to determine (1) the readability level of the reading passages in the English Textbook “Active English: English for Senior High School Students Grade X” and to know (2) the perception of the book users of the readability level of reading text in the English textbook “Active English: English for Senior High School Students Grade X”. This study was conducted in a senior high school in Karanganyar regency. The subject of this study were several students at grade X and an English teacher who participated in teaching and learning activities. This study applied a qualitative method. The research methodology for this study is content analysis, and the research design is descriptive content analysis. Moreover, Coh-Metrix and Interviews are employed for obtaining the data. Coh-Metrix is used to know the grade level of each reading text in the textbook; however, the Interviews are used to know the students&#39; and the teacher perception about the readability level of the reading passages. The findings of Coh- Metrix show that most of the reading passages were suitable with the students&#39; grade level. Similarly, most of the students and the teacher also said that the reading passages were mostly at a &#39;fairly difficult&#39; level. It means that the reading passages in this textbook are suitable for 10th- grade students, both by the result of the Coh-Metrix and Interviews. The author hopes that other researchers who are willing to conduct research on the readability of texts, particularly in English textbooks, will find this study to be a useful resource and point to start. Teachers can plan and select the appropriate reading materials for their students by examining a variety of sources, in addition to use books as teaching tools.</p><p> </p>
