× 2009. English Diploma Program, Faculty of Letters and Fine Arts, Sebelas Maret University. This final project report is written based on the job training which has been done at DISBUDPAR Surakarta. The objective of this report is to mention and describe the tourism potentials in Surakarta and the strategy of promotion of DISBUDPAR in improving tourist visit followed by its problems. The data of this report are taken from observation and library study by collecting information from books, document, interview and other reliable literatures. Based on the observation conducted, it can be drawn to the conclusion that DISBUDPAR do various promotion activities which is done continuously and organized. It is done in order to create awareness among public about tourist object and attraction and also improve the tourist visit at Surakarta. There are the promotion activities done by DISBUDPAR, holding local events, participating in national and international events and providing information facilities. Relating to improve tourist visit at Surakarta, DISBUDPAR faces some problems. There are problem related to budget and bureaucracy. Therefore, the implementation of promotion activities by DISBUDPAR that supported by proper budget and simple procedural administration system is needed to improve tourist visit at Surakarta.
