×<p>This research is designed to (1) find the types of directive speech acts in "John Wick: Chapter 4," (2) identify the use of the types of directive speech acts uttered by the protagonist and antagonist in the movie "John Wick: Chapter 4," and (3) describe the characterization of the characters based on the types of directive speech acts uttered by the antagonist and protagonist in the film "John Wick: Chapter 4." (4) describe the development of antagonist and protagonist characterization from orientation, complication, evaluation, and resolution based on the types of directive speech acts used in the film "John Wick: Chapter 4.”</p><p>This research is categorized as descriptive qualitative research since the data would be analysis descriptively. This research used pragmatics and socio-pragmatics approaches. The source of data consisted of a document. This research document was “John Wick: Chapter 4” movie. The studies were selected using purposive sampling. The data-gathering approach employed in this study was content analysis.</p><p>According to the research findings, there are 90 occurrences of directive speech acts. The directive speech acts of asking and advising occur more often with the most data. Furthermore, there are differences in the use of DSA by the protagonist and antagonist characters of the movie; the antagonist characters exhibit a greater frequency of directive speech acts than the protagonist. The antagonist delivers 58 utterances, while the protagonist delivers 32 utterances. Moreover, the protagonist and antagonist are characterized based on the types of DSA used. The protagonist in this movie, John Wick, is portrayed as responsible because he has shown specific characteristics. Moreover, antagonist and protagonist characterizations are developed from orientation, complication, evaluation, and resolution based on the types of DSA.</p>
