×
In a contemporary era, the utilization of airstream energy as a reliable energy resource has been rapidly increasing. It has proven its potential in combating global warming, ensuring its renewable nature, efficiency, and serving as a hygienic energy source. The aims of this paper are, to analyze the performance of four mathematical approaches for wind energy potential analysis, evaluate the sustainability of wind energy potential, and select the best wind turbine model for installation at the study site. The study employed double-parameter Weibull distribution as a fundamental mathematical model to analyze half-hourly data collected at the Tanzania Meteorological Authority data collection center for two consecutive years, 2021 and 2022.

Statistical methods, including Root Mean Square Error, Factor of Determination, and Chi-Square, were used to validate the best fit among standard deviation, energy pattern, moment, and wind variability methods. The method of the moment was selected based on the validation results.

The results of this research show that, more than 66.7% of the monthly most probable wind speed ranges between 5 to 8.6 m/s in 2021 while more than 75 % ranges between 5 to 13.7m/s in 2022. Also, based on the NREL wind power classification, the study concluded that the site has sustainable wind speed energy potential since more than 90% of the 24 months and 8 climatic seasons have the power the calculated wind energy density was ranging between 700 to 7000 MWh/m^2 . Additionally, based on the calculated capa city factor and average power, all turbines selected in this study were found to have high -capacity factors greater than 25% and can be considered for selection based on the projected investment budget. However, the most cost-effective wind turbine model was found to be the POLARIS P62-1000, due to its largest capacity factors and average power output
in both annual, seasonal and monthly base
