The objectives of this research are: (1) to find out the pedagogical strategies the teacher used to foster students' participation, and (2) to find out the impacts of the strategy on students. This research used a qualitative research method with a case study as a research strategy. This research was conducted at a junior high school in Surakarta. The subjects of this research were an English teacher and six seventh-grade students. Data were collected through observation and interviews. The findings of the research show that: (1) the teacher used Interactive Teaching Methods to foster students' participation, and (2) the strategy positively impacted students' active participation and enjoyment in learning.
