× <p>This internship report details the experience of translating a journal article of law from Indonesian to English in the KMM Internship (Kuliah Magang Mahasiswa/KMM) program at Jogja Translator (JT). The company offers translation, interpreter, and document legalization services. The report outlines JT's vision of becoming a leading translation service provider while maintaining its Indonesian roots, and its mission as a one-stop solution for international document needs. This report mainly discusses the translation project of an Indonesian journal article of law entitled Analisis Perluasan Asas Legalitas dalam Pembaharuan Hukum Pidana, into English. The Nida and Taber (1982) three-stage translation process (analysis, transfer, restructuring) was used to ensure accuracy, acceptability, and readability in the target language. Some challenges encountered during the translation process are as follows: 1) translating figures of speech (metaphor and personification), 2) discovering unfamiliar legal terminologies 3) finding suitable legal context equivalents, 4) analyzing language structure, 5) maintaining accuracy while ensuring readability in the target language. Collaboration with colleagues, independent research, as well as translation techniques or strategies were employed to overcome these challenges. In addition, the internship also had additional activities, including translating grant funding documents, subcontractor agreements, and abstracts, proofreading, and even content writing. All experiences obtained from the internship have provided a well-rounded understanding of the diverse nature of translation work in a professional setting. The internship program at JT gives me many valuable skills including translation industry processes in industry, problem-solving strategies, practical translation techniques, teamwork skills, and the opportunity to contribute to real-world projects. Overall, the internship significantly enhances my preparedness for a successful translation career.<br></p>
