The internship was part of the English Diploma Program at the Vocational School of Universitas Sebelas Maret and took place from February 12, 2024, to April 5, 2024. This report provides comprehensive information about the internship, including objectives, institution profile, main activities, challenges, solutions, and conclusions. The primary activities included translating, proofreading, and editing. The report focuses on the translation process as the main activity, discussing the difficulties encountered and the solutions employed. One significant challenge was translating specific terms in the parental guidebook. To address these issues, I applied translation theory, which involves three steps: analyzing, transferring, and restructuring. Additionally, various translation techniques were utilized to ensure accuracy and clarity. This task required a keen eye for detail and an understanding of both linguistic and technical aspects of translation. Throughout the internship, I encountered several other challenges, such as idiomatic expressions that did not have direct equivalents in English. By employing a combination of literal and adaptive translation techniques, I was able to convey the intended meaning while maintaining the original tone and context. The internship offered valuable insights into real-world work environments, significantly enhancing my translation skills and knowledge. This experience underscored the importance of the practical application of theoretical knowledge in overcoming translation challenges. I also gained experience in project management, learning to meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with a team. The report concludes that the internship was instrumental in providing practical translation experience, which is crucial for professional development in this field. It highlighted the dynamic nature of translation work and the importance of continuous learning and adaptation. The skills and knowledge gained during this internship will undoubtedly benefit me in my future career as a professional translator, contributing to my overall growth and competence in the field.
