DENGAN PEMBERIAN PAKAN ALTERNATIF The Black Ants Colonization (Dolichoderus thoracicus Smith) in the Cocoa Cultivation (Theoborma cacao L.) with the Giving of Alternative Food Setiawan Yuniar Wijaya 1 , Muh. Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta The purposes of this research were to know the colonization of the black ants Dolichoderus thoracicus and to know the kind of alternative food which suitable for the black ants colonization in the cocoa cultivation. The alternative foods which given were coconut sugar, milk, and fish head. The qualitative data were the arrival time of the queens, males, workers, larvas, and pupas presented descriptively to know the colonization. The quantitative data (eggs, larvas, pupas, and imagos) were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test and continued DFMC test at 5 % level. The result of this research shown the type of black ant colonization is by migration. The colonization has been entered the reproduction stage. The most suitable food for the black ants colonization were fish head. The fish head also made the development of the black ants in all stadium (eggs, larvas, pupas, and imagos) faster than other foods. This is probably caused of protein contain in the fish head.
