Downy mildew caused by Peronoscleropora maydis is a serious problem for maize in Indonesia. Downy mildew is a major disease of maize and can reduce maize yield by 80-100%. Chemical control with fungicide spraying and seed treatment are the most currently used to protect crops from these diseases. This study aimed to determine the best combination of seed treatment and fungicide spraying to control downy mildew on maize seeds and to study the effectiveness of seed treatment with several fungicides to determine the effective treatment in suppress the spread of downy mildew. This research was conducted from October 2021 to January 2022 in Banggle Village, Kanigoro District, Blitar Regency, Central Java Province. The method used was a Completely Randomized Block Design with the treatment factors used were seed treatment and spraying consisting of 6 levels, without seed treatment and spraying, ER (Existing recipe) (Comparison Package), Dimetomorph and Pyraclostrobin (IM) + B1 (Package A), Dimethomorph and Pyraclostrobin (IM) + B2 (Package B), Oxathiapiproline (PLE) + Dimethomorph and Pyraclostrobin (IM) + B1 (Package C), Oxathiapiproline (PLE) + Dimethomorph and Pyraclostrobin (IM) + B2 ( Package D) which was repeated 3 times each. Spraying times for B1 Dimethomorph (7 DAP), Fenamidone (14 DAP), Dimethomorph (21 DAP), and Dimethomorph (7 DAP), Orondis (14 DAP), Dimethomorph (21 DAP) for B2. Observational data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance at the 5% level then for data that showed significant differences, further tests were carried out using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that downy mildew in maize occurred 4 weeks after planting. Corn plants which were applied with seed treatment and fungicide package showed better results than the control. In addition, seed treatment packages and fungicides were effective in suppressing the development of downy mildew. Existing recipe treatment is still the best treatment for whatever reasons it relates to disease development and plant growth.
