<p class="MsoNormal" xss=removed><span xss=removed>This report

describes my internship activities at PT Anak Hebat Indonesia (AHI) from

January 29th until March 23rd, 2024. The purposes of

conducting the internship are 1) applying translation skills through

translating and editing books, mainly translating a novel, 2) implementing and

enhancing translation competencies, and 3) comprehending the stages involved in

the publishing industry's process of translating and editing novels. The report

focuses on the main activity of the internship, which is translating Jane

Austen's <i>Pride and Prejudice, </i>from

English into Indonesian. This novel is written by Jane Austen. It was published

in 1813 and is one of English literature's most famous and appreciated works.

It chronicles the lives of Elizabeth Bennet, one of the five Bennet daughters,

and a nobleman named Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy. I emphasised conveying the

appropriate meaning from the source language to the target language as

naturally as possible by implementing Nida and Taber’s translation process. In <i>Theory and Practice of Translation</i>, Nida

and Taber (1982) explain that the translation process consists of three main

stages. The most challenging part of translating the book was translating the

idioms. To solve the issues, I looked up the meaning of the idioms in

dictionaries, namely the Cambridge Dictionary, Oxford Learner's Dictionary,

Collins Dictionary, and Merriam-Webster Dictionary. I also looked up on Google

for more references related to the idioms. I also give some recommendations for

the English Diploma students who have certainly been equipped with knowledge of

translation on campus with the lecturers and mentoring sessions with the

professionals in the translation agencies, for the English Diploma Program who

has educated its students and provided a broad knowledge of translation through

theoretical classes on campus and provided us with two semesters of internship

experience in the industry, and for PT Anak Hebat Indonesia (AHI) who has given

me a lot of experience.<o></o></span></p>
