This study examines the phenomenon of the cancel culture in the Gisella Anastasia pornographic video scandal through the lens of Manuel Castells' network society theory, Michel Foucault's heterotopia, and discipline and punishment. The results show a duality that contradicts the concept of cancel culture on social media. This duality manifests itself in the battle of discourses of cancel culture as a mechanism of punishment or condemnation for Gisella Anastasia's immoral actions, but on the other hand, there is a discourse of cancel culture that invites image rehabilitation and increased reputation for Gisella.

The research method used is Foucauldian Discourse Analysis (FDA) which is included in qualitative content analysis consisting of the stages of purposive sampling by referring to the recap of Gisella Anastasia's pornographic video data in February 2021, scrutinizing, coding, categorization, and interpretation. The research location was conducted on Instagram accounts @gisel_la, @gosipnyinyir2, @hopsindonesia, @Rananews.id, and @intipseleb. Meanwhile, the research was focused on YouTube channels, specifically iNews, tvOneNews, Kompas TV, Kompascom Reporter on Location, Metro TV, JPNN.COM, and STARPRO Indonesia.

The findings of this study indicate that network society or a network society that is free to express itself is able to influence the phenomenon of cancel culture to blur the boundaries of punishment, thus paradoxically triggering an increase in Gisella Anastasia's reputation on social media. Cancel culture not only functions as a tool of discipline and punishment but also creates heterotopia in terms of the mechanism of punishment on social media. The existence of discourse battles on social media causes a shift in narratives and the reconstruction of Gisella Anastasia's public image.
