Orchids propagated through tissue culture will undergo acclimatization to adapt to the external environment. This
study employed NAA hormone as a growth enhancer for Phalaenopsis orchids through soaking. The objective was
to determine the effects of shading and NAA application on the growth of Phalaenopsis sp. var. Astuty. The research
was conducted in a screen house located in Ngringo Village, Jaten District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Jawa
from February-August 2022. The method used was a nested design with two factors and five replications. The first
factor as a nester factor was shading (without and with shading) and the second factor as a nested factor was soaking
NAA solution (0 and 50 ppm). The second factor was conducted within the first factor with 5 replications, and each
unit consisted of 2 plant samples, resulting in 40 experimental units. The variables observed were plant height,
number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, number of roots, root length, fresh weight, and survival percentage. Data
were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at error level of 5%, if significant followed by Least Significant
Difference (LSD) at error level of 5%. The result showed acclimatization phase with 50 ppm NAA soaking treatment
had a significant effect on plant height, leaf width, and fresh weight of Phalaenopsis sp. var. Astuty under non-shading
conditions, and in the growth phase, 50 ppm NAA soaking treatment had a significant effect on plant height, leaf
length, and leaf width of Phalaenopsis sp. var. Astuty.
