Preparation of Ni/Zeolite Y and Mo/Zeolite Y monometallic catalyst to
study the effect of precursor concentrations toward the catalyst characters and to
compare the characters of Ni/Zeolit Y and Mo/Zeolit Y catalysts had been
conducted. The aim of this study is to produce more effisient hidrocracking
catalysts.
Preparation process was carried out on 2, 6, 10, 14 (% w/w) concentrations
of metallic precursor Ni(NO3)2.6H2O and (NH4)6Mo7O24.4H2O. The effect of the
precursor concentrations toward the characters of catalysts such as metal content,
total acidity, spesific suface area, average pore radius and total pore volume was
obtained by the characterization for each precursor concentrations. The
characterization of Ni/Zeolite Y and Mo/Zeolite Y catalysts were analysed by
XRD to know the crystalinity stabilization and mineral composition of catalysts.
The purpose of SSA analysis was used to know Ni and Mo metal content on the
zeolite Y. These data were supported by total acidity with the gravimetri method;
spesific suface area, average pore radius and total pore volume with BET method.
The characters of both catalysts, then, were compared in the same methods and
concentrations.
The result showed that the increasing of precursor concentrations
produced the increasing of metal contents, total acidity, spesific suface area,
average pore radius and total pore volume of Ni/Zeolite Y and Mo/Zeolite Y
catalysts until the optimum concentration. It was up to 6 (%w/w) in Ni/Zeolit Y
and 10 (%w/w) in Mo/Zeolit Y catalyst. Ni/Zeolite Y showed better characters
than Mo/Zeolite Y as a catalyst.
