Information about the growth and anatomical structure of Hedyotis
corymbosa [L.] Lamk. is still limited, expecially for its tolerance to water
availability and light intensity. The aims of this research were to know the growth
and anatomical structure of H. corymbosa in various water availability and light
intensity.
The Completely Random Design with two factor was used to analyze this
experiment. The first factor is water availability (A) and the second one is light
intensity (I). The water availability variation which used are A0= 100% field
capacity (KL), A1= 80% field capacity (KL), A2= 60% field capacity (KL) and
A3= 40% field capacity (KL) meanwhile light intensity variation which used are
I0= 100% light intensity (without shade), I1= 25% light intensity and I2= 45% light
intensity. They are combination of water availability and light intensity that
consist of 12 treatment combination are A100%I100%, A80%I100%, A60%I100%,
A40%I100%, A100%I25%, A80%I25%, A60%I25%, A40%I25%, A100%I45%, A80%I45%, A60%I45%
and A40%I45%. The plants were maintained in the experimental conditions up to 8
weeks. Some parameters like growth and anatomy parameter were measured. The results showed that treatment combination of water availability and
light intensity affect to the wet weight, dry weight, leaf thickness, palisade ratio,
stomatal index and amount of glanduler trichoma per mm2
, but they does not
affect to the leaf number. The treatment of 100% KL and 100% light intensity
showed the maximum result to the improvement of the wet weight and dry
weight. The treatment of 40% KL and 100% light intensity showed maximum
result to the improvement of palisade ratio, leaf thickness and amount of glanduler
trichoma per mm2
. The treatment of 100% KL and 100% light intensity showed
maximum result to the improvement of stomatal index. The treatment of 100%
KL and 100% light intensity showed maximum result to the growth of
H. corymbosa.
