×Staphylococcus aureus is one of bacteria causing infectious disease. One
alternative used to deal with the infectious diseases causing by Staphylococcus
aureus is by utilizing the natural plant materials or often called as traditional
medicine. Ekor kucing (Acalypha hispida Brum F.) and anting-anting (Acalypha
indica Linn.) plants are typical herbs producing useful chemical substances in
medicine, such as sapoin, tannine, flavonoid, acalyphi and volatile oil functioning
as antibacterial agent, among others.
The aims of this research are to : 1) study crude extract resistance potency
of leaf Ekor kucing to pursue bacterium of Staphylococcus aureus, 2) study crude
extract resistance potency of leaf anting-anting to pursue bacterium of
Staphylococcus aureus, dan 3) know comparision of potency of activity bacterium
resistance between crude extract of leaf Ekor kucing and Anting-anting.
The bacterial inhibition potential testing was conducted using PFT
(Poisoned Food Techniques) method. Ekor kucing and anting-anting leaf cruding
with etanol 70% solvent and dissolved serially using aquadest solvent to obtain
the various extract concentrations: 0,5%, 0.4%, 0.3%, 0.2%, 0.1% and 0%
(control). Then, the colony width was measured using gravimetry method. The
Completely Random Design was used to analyses data result this experiment.
The crude extract of anting-anting (Acalypha indica Linn.) and ekor
kucing (Acalypha hispida Brum F.) leaves at all concentrations can inhibit the
Staphylococcus aureus bacteria growth. The crude extract of Ekor kucing more
can to pursue bacterium of Staphylococcus aureus than crude extract of anting-
anting.
