This project is driven by three reasons: (1) my experiences in digesting fictions and cartoons which are flooded with violence and brutality, (2) current social realities which are full of social pathologies or social anomie, and (3) major sociological theories focusing on social problems. As we know, our everyday realities are now full of manipulation, violence, mutilation, crimes, killing, suicides, rapes, and deaths. Unfortunately, we -modern human beings- increasingly consider those social pathologies as ordinary and normal phenomena. However, according to three sociologists Durkheim, Marx, and Galtung, those pathologies should actually be considered abnormal and then should be explained. We have to find the solution to cure the pathologies. Using anomie theory, we can understand why crime occurs. Furthermore, we can also understand how the lower class is always in the state of conflicts with those in the higher class. The objective of this creative project is to raise awareness of social pathologies in the form of flash fictions. As a writer, I created various kinds of flash fiction with dark themes and sociological problems so that I can trigger people awareness. If everyone understands and can address the root of the problems, our world will be free from conflict and violence. Harmony can be created, hopefully, if everyone can improve their understanding on the values of humanity.
