The aim of the research were to know about antiinflammatory effect of ethanolic extract of M. pendens Merr. & Perry tuber on white rats. The framefork of the research was that flavonoid constituent of M. pendens Merr. & Perry tuber have an inflammatory effect. Complete Randomized Design with seven treatment groups, each of the treatment had five repetitions, was used in this study. Each group have been treated: Group I CMC 0,5% control (placebo), Group II positive control (Na- Diclofenac), Group III, IV, V, VI, and VII giving ethanolic extract of M. pendens Merr. & Perry tuber dose 9, 18, 27, 36 and 45 mg/200 g BW, respectively. The inflammation was produced by subplantar injection of carrageenan suspension in the right hind paw of rats. The quantitive data of Area Under Curve of edema percentage were analized statistically with SPSS program using One-Way ANOVA followed by DMRT test. The result showed that ethanolic extract of M. pendens Merr. & Perry dose 9 mg/200 g BW had given the highest antiinflammatory effects (29,726%).
