disease (CHD) is heart abnormality developing before birth. It is categorized into

acyanotic and cyanotic. Malnutrition is a common problem in children with CHD

due to increased energy needs and malabsorption. One of strategies to improve

intake of these children is nasogastric

tube (NGT) use. Hence, we analyzed the correlation of NGT use with weight gain

in children with acynotic CHD.<o></o></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" xss=removed><b><span lang="IN" xss=removed>Methods</span></b><span lang="IN" xss=removed>:<o></o></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" xss=removed><span lang="IN" xss=removed>A prospective

cohort study was conducted in infants with acyanotic CHD visiting the Pediatric

Outpatient Clinic of Dr. Moewardi General Hospital, Surakarta. All subjects

meeting the inclusion criteria were allocated into <a name="_Hlk186792585">NGT

use and no NGT use groups. We measured the body weight and body length monthly for

3 months. </a>The correlation between the variables was analysed with Chi-square

test. All data were statistically analyzed with SPSS 26, and the significance

level was set at p<0></o></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" xss=removed><b><span lang="IN" xss=removed>Results</span></b><span lang="IN" xss=removed>:<o></o></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" xss=removed><a name="_Hlk186801632"><span lang="IN" xss=removed>Thirty

two subjects met the inclusion criteria, comprising 17 subjects with NGT and 15

subjects without NGT. However, 2 subjects in NGT group deceased due to severe

infection. The correlation test obtained that the use NGT significantly

correlated with weight increament, in which subjects on NGT had a greater

weight gain (435 g/month) than that of

no NGT use (285 g/month) with OR and

p-value of 6.00 and 0.025, respectively. <o></o></span></a></p><p class="MsoNormal" xss=removed><b><span lang="IN" xss=removed>Conclusions: </span></b><span lang="IN" xss=removed>In infants with acynotic CHD, the use

of NGT significantly correlates with weight gain. Thus, NGT can be an effective

strategy to increase weight of these infants. <b><o></o></b></span></p><p>
