×ABSTRACT
Research about fabrication of plastic optical fiber has produced a set
fabrication tool have the shape of fiber drawing with height 250 cm. Fiber
drawing that used for fabrication refer to double crucible method. With fiber
drawing referred has been conducted fabrication test by using polyprophylene as
core and polymer adhesive (glue gun) as cladding. Polymer determination as core
and cladding is relied on test of materials refracting index. Measurement Result
shows refracting index polyprophylene 1,494 bigger than refracting index glue
gun 1,490. Fabrication are conducted with height variation crucible to temperature
and attraction speed constant. From fibre that produced conducted diameter
measurement and characteristic test of mechanical. Research result shows
negative correlation between height variation crucible and diameter core and slope
-0,08. Value of fibre elasticity modulus tends to show uniformed value, not base
on height variation in course of fabrication core and also veneering core with
cladding.
