× A STUDY OF THE MANUFACTURE OF GEIGER-MÜLLER DETECTOR’S TIPE SIDE WINDOW GAS – FILLED ARGON – ALCHOHOL WITH DIAMETER’S VARIATION Vivin Azzola Elwavi M 0204013 Physics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Science Sebelas Maret University ABSTRACT A study of the manufacture of Geiger-Müller detector’s tipe side window gas-filled argon-alchohol with diameter’s variation has been done. The detector’s tube is made of glass pipe with diameter 16 mm and 18 mm, length 100 mm and the vacuum line is made of glass pipe with diameter 6 mm. Vaporized copper are used for coating the inner side of the detector which function as a catode. Catode’s terminal is made of ferniko wire welded at the tube. The process parameters of coating are vacuum pressure in orde at 10-5 torr, tube’s temperature between 150° C to 200° C, 3 amperes of coating current and 0.7 volt of coating voltage. The result is good if the copper layer stick evenly to the surface of the inner side of the Geiger-Müller detector’s tube. And than can be the Geiger-Müller detector’s is the best diameter 16 mm with plateau 175 volt and slope 4.82 % / 100 volt after examined with 137Cs. Key words : Geiger-Müller detektor’s, plateau, and slope.
