× ABSTRACT The Thin film as gradded index Waveguide pattern of microscope slides glass have been made. The thin film made by using ion exchange method at temperature 270oC, 300oC, and 330oC with time variation during 1 minute, 3 minute, 5 minute, 7 minute, 9 minute, and 11 minute. The optics characteristic of thin film which formed have been done for example are pattern of bright spot, change of refractive index, amount of wave modes, transmitansi and deepness. Change of thin film refractive index determined by using ABBE refraktometer. Transmitation determined by using Ultra Violet-Visible Spectroscopy Double Beam Shimadzu 601 PC. And pattern of bright spot, amount of wave modes, and deepness of thin film determined by using coupling prism method. Result of research indicate that longer time and higher temperature ion exchange process of refractive index and amount of wave modes that creeped by thin film is increase. Transmitansi of thin film is decrease proportional with the longer of time and higher diffusion temperature. While longer diffusion time, thick of thin film decrease at diffusion temperature 270oC and 300oC. And the thick of thin film increase at temperature 330oC.
