× ABSTRACT This thesis work will describe the development of application program for the data acquisition and data processing. The program consists of two main programs and several sub program using LabVIEW software. Firstly is for the calibration of the new external balance and secondly is for the force measurements in the wind tunnel (LMWT) . Both application programs were dedicated for the new external balance. The balance has been designed and manufactured by LAGG in order to equipt win tunnel with force measurement system. The balance can measure three components of forces and moment; two forces which are perpendicular to each other, and one moment. During the calibration process, the balance was loaded by a known weight for each component. The program recorded the load and the associate signal that occurred in each loadcell. This process is repeated for different (known) weights. The calibration process completed when all of the components has been loaded. Data was saved and proceeded by Microsoft Office Excell to obtain the balance calibration matrix. When the balance’s calibration matrix is available, it can be validated by a check load. In a check load, you simply give an arbitrary known load then check whether program gives you the right value. The result was that the accuracy that new balance can achieve is 96,80 %. The balance is then used to do the force measurement of the airfoil model NACA 4415 in LMWT. The output of this program is a set of graphs that show Lift Coefficient ( ), Drag Coefficient ( ) and Moment Coefficient ( ). According to evaluation results, it is concluded that both application program have been well functioned and met the requirements that LAGG has declared Keywords : LabVIEW, Wind tunnel, External balance, Aerodynamic Force
