×ABSTRAK
Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak herba daun
sendok (Plantago major L.) terhadap kadar glukosa darah mencit Balb/C induksi
streptozotocin.
Metode Penelitian: Jenis penelitian ini adalah ekperimental laboratorik pre and
post test control group design. Hewan uji yang digunakan adalah 16 ekor mencit
jantan. Kemudian mencit diinduksi streptozotocin dosis 65 mg/BB intraperitoneal
dalam 0,02 M larutan buffer salin sitrat. Mencit yang dipakai adalah mencit
dengan kadar glukosa darah ≥ 200 mg/dL. Selanjutnya mencit dibagi secara acak
menjadi 2 kelompok. Kelompok I diberi metformin dosis 1,3 mg/mencit/hari dan
kelompok II diberi ekstrak daun sendok dosis 1000 mg/kgBB/hari. Pada minggu
ke-2 diukur kadar glukosa darah dari ekor mencit menggunakan Blood glucose
stick meter Gluco Dr
TM. Data yang diperoleh diolah secara statistik dengan uji t
tidak berpasangan menggunakan program SPPSS for Microsoft Windows release
17.0. Signifikansi yang digunakan adalah p<0,05.
Hasil Penelitian: Rata-rata selisih kadar glukosa darah sebelum vs sesudah
perlakuan kelompok metformin adalah -145,87 mg/dL sedangkan kelompok daun
sendok adalah -85,00 mg/dL (p = 0,024).
Simpulan Penelitian: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak
herba daun sendok dosis 1000 mg/kgBB/hari mampu menurunkan kadar glukosa
darah mencit Balb/C induksi streptozotocin.

ABSTRACT
Objective: To examine the effect of daun sendok (Plantago major L) extract with
the blood glucose levels of mice Balb/C induced streptozotocin.
Methode: This study was a laboratory experimental pre and post test control
group design. The subjects used were 16 male mice. Then mice induced with
streptozotocin doses of 65 mg/kg body weight intraperitoneally freshly dissolved
in 0,02 M citrate saline buffer. Mice used were mice with blood glucose levels ≥
200 mg/dL. Furthermore, mice were divided into 2 groups by simple random
sampling. Group I was given metformin doses of 1,3 mg/mice/day and group II
was given a daun sendok extract dose 1000 mg/kg body weight/day. At 2nd
weeks
was measured the glucose levels from blood of tail’s mice by a Blood Glucose
Stick Meter (GlucoDr
TM). The data obtained were statistic analyzed by
independent samples T-test using SPSS Programme for Microsoft Windows
release 17.0. Significance was set at p<0,05.
Result: The difference of average blood glucose levels pre vs post experiment,
metformin group were -145,87 mg/dL and daun sendok group were -85,00 mg/dL
(p = 0,024)
Conclusion: The experiment result showed that daun sendok (Plantago major L)
extract doses 1000 mg/kg body weight/day can reduce the blood glucose levels in
balb/c mice induced streptozotocin.
