Oxidative stress delays healing by increasing Malondialdehyde (MDA) expression and decreasing Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). Propolis contains Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester (CAPE), an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound that may accelerate wound healing.Objective: To evaluate the effect of different doses of ethanol extract of Mount Lawu propolis on MDA and VEGF expression during the proliferative phase of wound healing in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) with granulation tissue wounds.Methods: An experimental post-test only control group design was conducted on rats with granulation tissue wounds. Subjects were divided into treatment groups receiving varying doses of propolis extract. MDA and VEGF expressions were assessed using immunohistochemistry and statistically analyzed.Results: A significant decrease in MDA expression and increase in VEGF expression were observed in certain propolis dose groups compared to control (p<0>Conclusion: Ethanol extract of Mount Lawu propolis reduces oxidative stress (MDA) and enhances angiogenesis (VEGF) during the proliferative wound healing phase.
