study aims to analyze how English teacher perceive the Total Physical Response



(TPR) method to teach English to young learners. The study employed a



qualitative case study approach, involving two classes which are kindergarten



and elementary level, and one teacher from a young learner class that utilized



the TPR method in the classroom. Data were collected through observation and



interviews to assess the teacher’s perceptions. Data were analyzed using an



interactive model including data reduction, data display, and conclusion



drawing. In the observation results, the forms of the TPR method used by



teacher in English learning were found. Apart from the observation data,



interview data on the perceptions of English teachers also showed results that



were consistent with the observation results. This study found that the English



teacher applied three forms of TPR methods in the classroom, starting with



listening practice, role reversal, and action sequence. Furthermore, seems that



English teachers' views on the TPR method are that it can stimulate the



students’ active participation in the classroom, raised up the students’



creativity, and provide the better understanding for the students. In addition,



TPR is one of the keys to improving and enhancing English language learning in



young learners by enhancing active participation, creativity, and



understanding. It also suggested that the use of TPR method in the classroom



played crucial parts to enhancing the good response of the students.</span>
