Krisna Yonta Putra Hermawan, 2025. Translating Idiomatic Expressions from A Philosophy Book Entitled Utilitarianism by John Stuart Mill at PT Anak Hebat Indonesia. English Diploma Program, Vocational School. Universitas Sebelas Maret. This internship report is written to describe the activities during my internship program experience at PT Anak Hebat Indonesia. Located in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, PT Anak Hebat Indonesia is a publishing company established in November 2016 and has published over 2000 book titles of various genres. This internship program lasted for two months starting from January 20 to March 15, 2025. During the internship program, I worked on a translation project for the John Stuart Mill’s philosophy book entitled Utilitarianism. One of the main challenges I encountered was the difficulty of translating complex philosophical terms and abstract concepts into accurate and comprehensible language. To address this issue, I applied Nida and Taber (1969) translation theory, which contained 3 stages, namely analyzing, transferring, and restructuring. I also used several tools such as The Indonesian Comprehensive Dictionary (Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, KBBI), Perfected Spelling V (EYD V), Cambridge Dictionary, and digital platforms like Google and Google Docs. By using all of this approaches, I was eventually able to maintain the linguistic integrity and conceptual depth of the original text. Apart from translating the philosophy book, I also received additional activities, including weekly mentoring session with my mentor to discuss my translation work, as well as editing the translation manuscript of Bram Stroker’s famous novel, Dracula. This internship program has given me a lot of benefits in improving my translation skills and abilities particularly in terms of translation accuracy, editorial quality, and workflow management in the publishing industry, which ultimately prepared me for a future career in translation and publishing industry.
