This report is based on my experiences while conducting the internship at Metta Solo FM, Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. In conducting an internship in the radio industry, it is not only about recognizing the world of broadcasting, but things like news scripts and marketing are also included in the discussion. For example, I was assigned to translate a Voice of America news script and that segment has become my main topic of discussion in the preparation of this report. The purpose of this projectis to understand how journalist and news texts have a slightly different linguistic structure. News texts themselves would often be found in the form of informal language, but contain informative sentences. This is the main challenge for how to create translated news texts that carry different cultures between the sources and target so that the message conveyed remains acceptable. In this process, I did three main steps to translate the Voice of America news segment. The first was to analyze the linguistic structure, which I found to be my main challenge in translating the text. After the analysis was done, I did the transferring stage as the first stage of the translation process, where I translated with the help of temporary references. Therefore, the translation results from the transferring process need to be adjusted again in the restructuring stage. The restructuring stage is the final stage of translating to ensure that the translation has gone through the maximum proofreading and editing process by utilizing the additional use of references used. These three stages are important steps for me to be able to go through the process of translating Voice of America news texts which are foreign news and must be adjusted to the language rules in Indonesian as the target audience for this translation.
