This internship report describes the activities during my internship at Wayang Orang Sriwedari, the Department of Culture and Tourism, Surakarta. The internship was held at Wayang Orang Sriwedari on February 10 - April 5, 2025. The objectives of my internship included 1) gaining real work experience, 2) building a professional network, and 3) learning cultural aspects for good translation. My main activity was to translate wayang storylines from Indonesian to English. This wayang storylines was created for the audience to have a better understanding when watching the performance. During the process of translating, I experienced some difficulties especially in translating specific terms, vulgar terms and degrees that exist in the texts. To solve the translation problem, I looked up the word in the KBBI and articles explaining the term wayang. In working on my translation project, I applied Molina and Albir's (2002) translation techniques such as borrowing, literal translation, established equivalent, and modulation. I also did additional internship activities to support the operations of Wayang Orang Sriwedari such as creating content related to wayang and serving visitors who came to watch the show. This internship program is very beneficial because it improves not only my translation skills, but also enhances my soft skills, such as the ability to communicate and work together. Participating in the Student Internship Program (KMM) program provided many benefits for me, especially for my preparation to work in a real working environment.
