            This research is designed to: (1) categorize types of slang words found in the movie Bad Boys for Life, (2) identify and analyze the translation strategies used by the translator in rendering slang words in the movie entitled Bad Boys for Life, and (3) describe the translation quality of slang words in the movie Bad Boys for Life in terms of accuracy and acceptability.

            This research is categorized as descriptive qualitative research since the research data were analyzed descriptively. The research used two kinds of data: linguistic and translation data. The linguistic data consisted of slang taken from the movies, and the translation data consisted of the slang translation strategies and quality. Moreover, the source of data consisted of documents and informants. This research document was the Bad Boys for Life film. Meanwhile, the informants of this research were three raters who validated and assessed the data by identifying the slang translation strategies and analyzing the translation quality. Moreover, the researcher applied content analysis and focus group discussion to collect the data.

            The result of the research shows that there are six types of slang words in the total of 122 data, namely Morphological words, Compound words, Clipping words, Ending or Suffix, Acronym, and Coined words. This research there are eight translation strategies applied by the translator: namely, Translation by a more general or superordinate word, Translation by a more neutral or less expressive word, Translation by cultural substitution, Translation using a loan word or loan word plus explanation, Translation by paraphrase using a related word, Translation by paraphrase using the unrelated word, Translation by omission, and Translation by illustration. Moreover, the final score of the translation quality is 2.28, which consists of 2.00 in terms of Accuracy and 2.56 in terms of Acceptability. The score shows that the translation had a less accurate and less acceptable quality of translation of slang words to the target language. The study found that translating slang words found in the movie Bad Boys for Life resulted in less accurate quality because of the employment of more neutral or less expressive words. This occurs due to the utilization of strategies used by translators cause the disappearance of slang words, and do not deliver equivalent meaning to the target language.
