× ABSTRACT This study aims to determine whether or not: (1) the difference between the effects of constructivist approach through the use of Children Learning In Science (CLIS) methods and experimental methods of physics students' cognitive abilities, (2) the difference between the effects of assignment of individual and group on cognitive abilities in Physics students, (3) interaction effects between the use of the constructivist approach through a teaching method with the results of assignment of Physics cognitive abilities of students. In this research used experimental method with 2x2 factorial design. Entire study population VIII class student of the second semester 1 Junior High School Wangon Banyumas the 2008/2009 school year consists of 6 classes, the class VIII to class A to F. VIII. Samples taken by random cluster sampling from which four classes, namely class VIII B and VIII E as a class experiment with a sample of 80 students of class VIII and VIII A and class C as the control sample with the number 80 people. Fourth grade has the same initial conditions. Data collection techniques used were technical documentation and testing techniques. Documentation techniques to obtain the initial state student data derived from the value of the first semester final examination subjects of Physics and test techniques to obtain data of Physics cognitive abilities of students in the subject sub reflection of light. Testing requirements analysis methods for the Lilliefors test for normality and Bartlett methods for testing homogeneity. Data analysis technique used are two roads anava with unequal cell contents, then proceed with further testing anava Scheffe multiple comparison method. Based on the research results can be concluded that: (1) There is a difference between the effects of constructivist approach to Children Learning In Science (CLIS) methods and experimental methods of physics students' cognitive abilities (F a = 4:16 > F table = 3.84 at 5% significance level). Multiple comparison test of the obtained results that the use of constructivist approach to Children Learning In Science (CLIS) methods is more effective than experimental methods. (2) There is a difference between the results of the implementation effects of assignment of individuals and groups of physics students' cognitive abilities. (F b = 12:48 > F table = 3.84 at 5% significance level). Multiple comparison test of the obtained results that the students who were given the task of individually better physics than the cognitive abilities of students who were given the task group. (3) No interaction effect between the use of constructivist approach to learning methods by giving the task of physics students' cognitive abilities. (F ab = 0:13 < F table = 3.84 at a significance level of 5%).
