×<p xss="removed" xss=removed>This thesis is a project that discusses how life experiences shape identity and how it is explored through a novel entitled <i>Edellweiss’s Legacy</i>, a novel that mainly revolves around the said issues. By employing a question ‘how do a person’s life experiences and the memory of them form their identity?’, the discussion is further led by three main topics: 1) identity, 2) obsession, and 3) life experience. The objective of this project is to reveal the way a person’s life and the memory of it form their identity. As per my observation through years on the variety of characteristics owned by the people around me, I realised that their life experiences and the memories that are left behind play big roles in forming who they are and how they act as an individual. I conducted some interviews to my mother and grandfather, observed the behaviours of the closest people to me in my life, and exploring my former notes on my journals to deepen the understanding towards the topics. As I also highly value the good quality of a literature work of mine, I invited three beta readers to give me some suggestions and insights to furnish up my novel. <i>Edellweiss’s Legacy</i> is a unique novel in which I initially wrote when I was still 13 years old. I adjusted the draft with some considerations to match my present self as I enhanced the focus of this novel to the topic of identity. The main character, Nathaline Edellweiss, is an amnesic girl who lives with her brother, Kevin, and her grandmother, Stephanie. Deeper in the novel, the characters reveal some character developments and revelations in their relation with their life experiences, memories, trauma, and their obsessions. The novel eventually unravels that the identities of the characters inside the novel are highly influenced by their past experiences and their trauma. Furthermore, although obsession does not truly define what a person truly is as an individual, other people might overlap it with this person’s identity. </p>
