× ABSTRAK perubahan manajemen industri rokok kretek Kudus sejak 1920-an. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode historis, dengan langkah-langkah : (1) heuristik, (2) kritik, (3) interpretasi dan (4) historiografi. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penulisan skripsi ini adalah sumber primer, sumber sekunder dan wawancara. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis historis yang mengutamakan ketajaman dalam menginterpretasi data sejarah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan, bahwa : (1) Industri rokok kretek Kudus berdiri sejak tahun 1908. Rokok kretek Kudus ditemukan oleh Haji Jamahri dan Mbok Nasilah. Nitisemito sebagai pendiri industri rokok kretek pertama di Kudus. Tahun 1914, Nitisemito membangun pabrik di desa Jati Kudus dengan nama pabrik Bal Tiga; (2) Bahan baku industri rokok kretek Kudus harus didatangkan dari luar daerah bahkan diimpor karena Kudus bukan merupakan penghasil bahan baku rokok kretek. Sistem produksi masih sangat sederhana dengan sistem abon. Sejak 1930, mulai diterapkan sistem pabrik; (3) Sistem pemasaran yang digunakan industri rokok kretek Kudus telah menerapkan sistem promosi modern dan sistem agen; (4) Pengusaha Tionghoa juga merambah industri rokok kretek Kudus mengikuti pengusaha pribumi. Kuatnya pengusaha Tionghoa industri rokok kretek Kudus, melemahkan posisi pengusaha pribumi. Kelangsungan usaha Tionghoa ini didukung oleh pemerintah dengan salah satu faktor, usaha Tionghoa memberikan pemasukan pajak yang besar bagi pendapatan negara. Dengan demikian, dapat diambil suatu kesimpulan bahwa dari tahun 1908-1964 industri rokok kretek Kudus mengalami masa pasang surut dari pengusaha pribumi ke pengusaha Tionghoa. The purpose of this study is to determine : (1) history of the establishment of the kretek cigarette industry in Kudus, (2) the condition of the kretek cigarette industry in Kudus early decade of the 1900’s, (3) the marketing system of kretek cigarette in decade of 1900’s, (4) the change in industrial management of kretek cigarettes industry since 1920’s. This study use the historical methode, with the following steps : (1) heuristic, (2) critics, (3) interpretation, (4) historiography. The source of data were primary and secondary data, and interview. The technique of collecting data was literature study. The technique of analisys data was historycal analysis which focus in argumentation and interpreting of historical data. Based on this research the results can be concluded : (1) The kretek cigarette industry in Kudus established since 1908. The kretek cigarettes was found by Haji Jamahri and Mbok Nasilah. Nitisemito was the founder of the first kretek cigarette industry in Kudus. In 1914, Nitisemito built a factory in the Jati village in Kudus with the name of Bal Tiga; (2) The materials of kretek cigarette kretek industry might be imported from the outside of Kudus. The system of production was simple with the abon system. Since 1930’s, the factory began to be applied; (3) The system of marketing that had been used by the kretek cigarette industry had been implemented the systems of modern campaigns and agents; (4) The Tionghoa penetrated into the kretek cigarette industry in Kudus followed the native entrepreneurs. The power of Tionghoa enterpreneurs weakened the position of native enterpreuners. The existence of Tionghoa Industry was supported by the government since the industry gave a huge tax income to the country. Thus, it could be concluded that from 1908-1964, Kudus Kretek Cigarette Industry had undergone power shift from native to Tionghoa enterpreneur.
