This study analyzed inclusion and exclusion in building solidarity within Donald Trump's Victory Speeches. This study examined how these linguistic choices were reflected in victory speeches to gather the collective voice of supporters or the public to foster a sense of shared solidarity. This study adopted the Critical Discourse Analysis approach with a theory of Van Leeuwen's social actor (2008) using inclusion and exclusion strategies. Findings indicated that Donald Trump produced 371 inclusion strategies and 102 exclusion strategies. Through the dominant use of the social actor, “we”, Donald Trump aligns himself with the American people, presenting a sense of unity and shared identity. The use of inclusion, exclusion, and social actor representation in Donald Trump’s three victory speeches demonstrates his method of building a sense of solidarity with the American public. By clearly distinguishing between “us” and “them,” he strengthens the unity of his supporters while presenting this division as both legitimate and necessary.
