ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi petani terhadap budidaya wijen, menganalisis karakteristik faktor internal dan eksternal petani yang membudidayakan wijen, serta menganalisis hubungan antara faktor internal dan eksternal dengan persepsi petani terhadap budidaya wijen Kabupaten Sukoharjo.Metode dasar yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan teknik survei. Lokasi dalam penelitian ini adalah Kabupaten Sukoharjo, dengan mengambil empat kecamatan yaitu Kecamatan Baki, Kecamatan Nguter, Kecamatan Gatak, dan Kecamatan Kartasura. Sampel ditentukan dengan teknik multistage cluster sampling, sebanyak 40 petani responden. Pengkategorian tingkat persepsi petani terhadap budidaya wijen dan faktor internal dan eksternal petani menggunakan rumus lebar interval. Analisis hubungan faktor internal dan eksternal dengan persepsi petani terhadap budidaya wijen di Kabupaten Sukoharjo menggunakan korelasi Rank Spearman (rS).
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang sangat signifikan antara pendidikan non formal, pengalaman, serta kedekatan dengan persepsi petani terhadap budidaya wijen. erdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara lingkungan sosial dan intensitas stimuli dengan persepsi petani terhadap budidaya wijen. Terdapat hubungan yang tidak signifikan antara usia, pendidikan formal, serta pendapatan dengan persepsi petani terhadap budidaya wijen. Terdapat hubungan yang sangat signifikan antara faktor internal dan eksternal dengan persepsi petani terhadap budidaya wijen di Kabupaten Sukoharjo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 75 % petani memberikan persepsi yang baik terhadap budidaya wijen di Kabupaten Sukoharjo.

ABSTRACT
This Research aims to analyse the farmer perception to sesame cultivation, analyse the characteristicof internal and eksternal factor of the farmer who cultivates the sesame, and also analyse the relation between internal and eksternal factor fthe farmer toward perception to sesame cultivation in Sukoharjo Regency. Basic method that is used in this research is descriptive with survey technique. Location in this research is Sukoharjo Regency, by taking four district that are Baki District, Nguter District, Gatak District, and Kartasura District. The sample techniquewas decide usinng the multistage cluster sampling, obtained by 40 farmer responder. The interval width formula was used for finding out the farmers’ perception to sesame conducting and the factors creating the farmers’ perception to sesame cultivation in Sukoharjo Regency. Meanwhile the Spearman’s Rank (rS) correlation was used for finding out the farmers’ perception to sesame conducting in Sukoharjo Regency.
The Result ofthis research indicates that there are very significant relationship between non formal education, experience, and also continguity with the farmer perception to sesamecultivation. There are significant relation between social environment and intensity stimuli with the farmer perception tothe sesame conducting. There are not significant relationship between age, formal education, and also income with the farmer perception to sesame cultivation. There are very significant relationship between internal and eksternal factor with the farmer perception to sesame conducting in Sukoharjo Regency. The result of this research indicates that 75 % of farmer gives good perception toward sesame conducting in Sukoharjo Regency.
