× ABSTRAK Berita dalam pandangan konstruksi sosial bukan merupakan fakta yang riil melainkan rekontruksi tertulis dari realitas sosial yang terdapat dalam kehidupan. Berita bukan hanya menggambarkan relitas tetapi juga konstruksi dari media itu sendiri. Melalui berbagai instrumen yang dimilikinya, media ikut membentuk realitas yang terkemas dalam pemberitaan. Melalui proses dialektika, media melakukan konstruksi atas realitas sosial. Hal ini seperti yang terjadi dalam pemberitaan mengenai flu babi. Definisi flu babi adalah sebuah virus yang berasal dari hewan babi. Virus ini awalnya hanya menyerang binatang babi, namun virus ini beradaptasi untuk menyerang manusia. Flu babi sudah menjadi isu global bahkan WHO secara resmi menyatakan wabah ini sebagai pandemi. Flu babi merupakan masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang serius di dunia termasuk di Indonesia. Hal ini terbukti dengan adanya 400 kasus flu babi positif di Indonesia hingga akhir bulan Juli 2009. Kasus flu babi tersebut tersebar di sepuluh daerah di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui konstruksi realitas flu babi yang dibentuk dalam teks berita dan wacana yang berkembang didalamnya. Dalam penelitian ini, teks berita Solopos seputar flu babi menjadi obyek penelitian karena pemberitaannya yang gencar di Solopos selama beberapa bulan. Unsur kedekatan juga menjadi alasan peristiwa tersebut dipilih sebagai obyek penelitian. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kualitatif dengan menggunakan analisis wacana pada dimensi teks. Teks berita ini dianalisis melalui metode analisis teks yang mengadopsi elemen- elemen wacana seperti tematik, skematik, sintaksis, stilistik dan sebagainya. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa berdasarkan hasil analisis teks berita mengenai isu flu babi di Harian Solopos, dapat diketahui bahwa Solopos mengkonstruksikan flu babi sebagai virus yang berbahaya dan menimbulkan kekhawatiran pada pemerintah maupun masyarakat. Solopos juga mengkonstruksikan positif upaya penanganan yang dilakukan pemerintah lokal sebagai wujud keseriusan pemerintah dalam menanggapi adanya isu flu babi. ABSTRACT News in the view of social construction is not a real fact but written reconstruction of social reality in life. News describes not only the reality, but also the construction of media itself. Through its various instruments, the media helps to create the reality contained in the news. Through the dialectical process, the media constructs the social reality. It occurs in the news of swine influenza. The definition of swine influenza is a virus that comes from pig. The virus originally attacks pigs, but later on, it attacks human beings. The swine influenza has become a global issue and even the WHO officially declares this as a pandemic outbreak. The swine influenza is a serious public health problem in the world including in Indonesia. It is proved by the 400 positive cases of swine influenza in Indonesia by the end of July 2009. The swine influenza cases spread across ten regions in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to know the reality of the construction of swine influenza which is established in the text of the news and discourse that is growing in it. In this study, the text news of swine influenza in Solopos becomes the object of the research because it is reported in the media for several months. The proximity element is also the reason why the event is selected as the object of the research. This research is a qualitative study using discourse analysis on the dimensions of the text. This news text is analyzed through the methods of the text analysis adopted from discourse elements such as thematic, schematic, syntactic, stylistic, and so on. This research concludes that based on the analysis result of the news text about the issue of swine influenza at the Daily Solopos can be known that the swine influenza is as the dangerous virus and it can make the solicitude of the government in handling the swine influenza. This is as the serious form of the government in responding the issue of the existence of swine influenza.
