× ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca melalui gambar dengan kartu kalimat pada siswa kelas II SD Negeri 2 Klari Kecamatan Karanggede Kabupaten Boyolali tahun 2009/2010. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan 3 siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri atas 4 tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Sebagai subjek adalah siswa kelas II SD Negeri 2 Klari Kecamatan Karanggede Kabupaten Boyolali yang berjumlah 17 siswa. Subyek diambil dengan alasan peneliti dalam mengambil subjek secara klasikal. Teknik pengumpulan data digunakan observasi, wawancara, tes dan dokumentasi. Uji validitas data yang digunakan dengan trianggulasi sumber. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah model analisis deskriptif dan analisis interaktif. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut : Pemberian gambar dengan kartu kalimat dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas II SD Negeri 2 Klari. Pemberian gambar dengan kartu kalimat yang kontinyu dan berkesinambungan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas II. Hal ini terbukti pada nilai yang diperoleh siswa pada Siklus I : Nilai Pre Tes rata-rata 35,29. Setelah pemberian gambar dengan kartu kalimat rata-rata Pos Tes 55,88. Siklus II Nilai rata-rata Pre Tes 34,70. Setelah pemberian gambar dengan kartu kalimat rata-rata nilai Pos Tes 47,64. Siklus III nilai rata-rata Pre Tes 50,00. Setelah pemberian gambar dengan kartu kalimat rata-rata nilai Pos Tes 83,52. ABSTRACT The Purpose of this research is improving the beginner reading ability through picture using sentence card in the second grade student of SDN 2 Klari Karanggede Boyolali in the academic year 2009/2010. Type of this research is classroom action research using third cycles. Every cycle consist of 4 steps, they are planning, implementation, action, observation and reflection. The second grade student of SDN 2 Klari Karanggede Boyolali used as the subject of this research with the number of student are 17. Subject took in the reason; the researcher took the subject classically . The researcher uses observation, interview, test and documentation methods as the technique of collecting data. Triangulations resource used as the validity test of the data. Descriptive and interactive analysis used as the technique of analysis data. Based on this research, the researcher can take conclution: Giving pictures through sentence card will improve the second grade student’s ability on the second grade students of SD Negeri 2 Klari. By using pictures through sentence card regulary can improve the second grade students reading ability. It has proved on the first cycle. In pretest, it got 35,29 on the class average, after given pictures through sentence card the class average reached up to 55,88. The second cycle : the class average of pretest became 34,70. After given pictures through sentence card the class average of posttest became 47,64. The third cycle : The class average of pretest is 50,00. After given pictures through sentence card, the class average score of posttest became 83,52.
