×ABSTRACT
This Final Project was written based on the job training done by the writer in SDN Sumber III Solo. This final project discusses about the effectiveness of games in the process of teaching and learning English vocabulary to the third grade students in the school. It describes the application of games in teaching vocabulary. The objectives of the final project report are to describe the application of games and to find out how effective games is in the process of teaching and learning English vocabulary to the third grade students of SDN Sumber III Solo.
The class activities consist of three steps based on the lesson plan that was prepared before. They are: Warming up that was done to introduce the new materials so that the students are interested in it and to give the students chances to express their opinion, Presentation in which the writer explained the materials by using games while she improved the students’ English skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing), and Production that was done by applying some vocabulary games to know how much the students understood about the materials having been explained before.
The writer found out that using games in teaching vocabularies is effective for several reasons. They are: games can keep the students concentrate in learning the materials, games make the students interest in learning and memorize the materials, games help the teacher create a fun and enjoyable class so that, the class management is good, games give the students opportunity to apply the materials they have learnt, games can help the teacher measure the students’ understanding in learning the materials, and games can be applied to give practice in all the English skills, such as Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. The suggestions are dedicated to the third grade students of SDN Sumber III Solo, the English Teachers of SDN Sumber III Solo, SDN Sumber III Solo, and the students of English diploma program majoring in teaching.
