The purpose of this study are to know (1) The appear of batik in kampong Kauman, Surakarta, (2) The formation and benefits of Kauman Surakarta Village Tourism Community, (3) the reason the young generation in kampong Kauman, Surakarta was reluctant to involved in the field of batik, (4) To grow efforts cultural values of batik from older generation to young generation in kampong Kauman, Surakarta, (5) The result grow efforts cultural values of batik from older generation to young generation in kampong Kauman, Surakarta, (6) Constraints faced in grow efforts cultural values of batik from older generation to young generation.
This study using qualitative research methods with a single case study. Population are the batik society in kampong Kauman Surakarta. Techniques of data collection using direct observation techniques, interview techniques and document. Triangulation of data using in-depth interview techniques. Data were analyzed using a model of interactive analysis.
Based on this research can be summarized as follows: (1) The emergence of batik Kauman because of the role of the Kasunanan Palace of Surakarta, where batik skills learned by the wives servants in the palace pamethakan then used to produce batik to meet daily needs, (2) Kauman Surakarta Village Tourism Community is an institution of social organization which has a goal for unity or as a unifier, (3) The young generations are reluctant to get involved and not interested in batik due to shame, pride and prefer to follow the trend of other nations, the lack of entrepreneurial spirit in the young generation and some of them more interested to continue studying and working in accordance with his education, (4) To grow efforts cultural values of batik from older generation to young generation in kampong Kauman, Surakarta is introduced, taught and to familiarize of batik to the young generation early on, giving confidence to the young generation to manage the batik business owned by his parents and conduct training and make batik events involving young people, (5) The result grow efforts cultural values of batik from older generation to young generation in kampong Kauman, Surakarta is the young generation to help preserve batik and batik making as a source of livelihood and the emergence of ideas in promoting and developing businesses of batik in the kampong Kauman, Surakarta, (6) Constraints faced in grow efforts cultural values of batik from older generation to young generation is less convinced parents to offspring in teaching children about science of batik and to continue the batik business, limited time possessed villagers of kampong Kauman, Surakarta to attend training.
