This research aims to improve the ability of the sum in the fourth grade
children mental retardation C SLB B, C-Autism Bina Asih Surakarta with media
countdown board.
This research was shaped Classroom Action Research / Action Research
pencermatan Class is a form of an action learning activities, which are deliberately
raised and occur in a classroom simultaneously. Subjects who received treatment
was the fourth grade students mental retardation C SLB B, C-Autism Bina Asih
Surakarta numbering three students. Data collection technique used observation,
interviews, and tests applied in cycle I and cycle II. Data analysis was performed
with the techniques of critical analysis of events to reveal the weaknesses and
strengths of teachers and student performance in teaching and learning.
Quantitative data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics are displayed
through charts and graphs in a qualitative description and interpretation of test
results comparing the first cycle and cycle II.
The results showed: in the first cycle of acquisition learning achievement
of students from the sum of one third of students or 33.33%, the ability to count as
much as 0 a media board of students from three students, or at 0% and the
liveliness of the students as much as a student of three students or for 33.33%.
Results of second cycle of action found improvements with the acquisition of
academic achievement with the board calculate the sum of 100%, the ability to
use the board count as much as one third of students from the student or by
33.33% and the liveliness of the students as much as two students from the three
student or equal to 66.67% . The success of actions based on indicators of
achievement occurred on the second cycle. From these results we can conclude
that the use of counting boards succeeded in improving student achievement
mental retardatin sum of grade IV C SLB B, C-Autism Bina Asih Surakarta
