× ABSTRACT The purposes of this research are to find out: 1) the effect of Jigsaw type used in cooperative learning model using experiment method and demonstrate method to cognitive ability of student; 2) the effect of the students with high emotional and spiritual quotients and the students with lower emotional and spiritual quotients to the students’ cognitive ability; 3) the interaction between Jigsaw type used in cooperative learning model and the students’ emotional and spiritual quotients towards students’ cognitive ability; on the subject of Material and The Existence. The method used of this research was experiment by factorial design 2 x 2. The population of this research is second year students (VII class) of SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta year 2009/2010. This research used cluster random sampling technique. The population sample of this research are two classes, they are VIIC with Jigsaw type used in cooperative learning model using experiment method and VIID with Jigsaw type used in cooperative learning model using demonstrate method. The data gathering techniques of this research are the documentation, testing, and questionnaire. Techniques of data analyzes used the two-way analysis of variation with different cells then proceed with Scheffe's double cooperation method. From the results of this research it can be concluded that: 1) there is no effect of Jigsaw type used in cooperative learning model using experiment method and demonstrate method to the students’ cognitive ability on the subject of Material and The Existence (Fa = 3.19 < F0,05;1,68 = 3.99); 2) there is an effect of the student with high emotional and spiritual quotients and the students with lower emotional and spiritual quotients to students’ cognitive ability on the subject of Material and The Existence (Fb = 7.09 > F0,05;1,68= 3.99), the student with high emotional and spiritual quotients is much more effective than the student with lower emotional and spiritual quotients ( = 67.5128 > = 62.1515); 3) there is no interaction of Jigsaw type used in cooperative learning model with students’ emotional and spiritual quotients to students’ cognitive ability on the subject of Material and The Existence (Fab = 0.59 < F0,05;1,68 = 3.99). The implications of this research are: both experiment method and demonstrate method that used Jigsaw type of cooperative learning model are equally effective to the subject of Material and The Existence. The students’ emotional and spiritual quotients affect the students’ cognitive ability. This evidence should make the teacher to pay more attention to student’s emotional and spiritual quotient, so that the students understand the lesson effectively. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: 1) pengaruh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw menggunakan metode eksperimen dan demonstrasi terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa; 2) pengaruh kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual kategori tinggi dan rendah terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa; 3) interaksi antara pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dan kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual siswa terhadap kemampuan kognitif; pada pokok bahasan Zat dan Wujudnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan desain faktorial 2 x 2. Populasi penelitian ini yaitu semua siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta tahun pelajaran 2009/2010. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu teknik cluster random sampling. Sampel yang terambil dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 2 kelas, yaitu kelas VIIC dengan perlakuan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw menggunakan metode eksperimen dan VIID dengan perlakuan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw menggunakan metode demonstrasi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik dokumentasi, tes, dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan anava dua jalan dengan isi sel tak sama, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji lanjut anava yaitu komparasi ganda metode Scheffe’. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: 1) tidak ada pengaruh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw menggunakan metode eksperimen dan demonstrasi terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa pada pokok bahasan Zat dan Wujudnya (Fa = 3.19 < F0,05;1,68 = 3.99); 2) ada pengaruh kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual kategori tinggi dan rendah terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa pada pokok bahasan Zat dan Wujudnya (Fb = 7.09 > F0,05;1,68= 3.99), kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual siswa kategori tinggi memberikan pengaruh yang lebih baik daripada kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual siswa kategori rendah ( = 67.5128 > = 62.1515); 3) tidak ada interaksi antara pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dan kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual siswa terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa pada pokok bahasan Zat dan Wujudnya (Fab = 0.59 < F0,05;1,68 = 3.99). Implikasi penelitian ini yaitu model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw menggunakan metode eksperimen atau demonstrasi dapat digunakan pada pembelajaran Fisika pokok bahasan Zat dan Wujudnya karena dapat memberikan pengaruh yang sama baik. Kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual siswa berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa. Sehingga dapat menjadi referensi bagi guru untuk lebih memperhatikan dan berusaha meningkatkan kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual siswa untuk memaknai materi yang diajarkan.
